We appreciate the comments from Lin et al1 regarding our recent article2 in AJKD. We acknowledge the CRIC study provides a restricted annual assessment of analgesic exposure, which could lead to an under-reporting of analgesics use, but the bias applies to all analgesics and confers non-specific attenuation of our findings towards the null. We concluded the association of NSAIDs with outcomes was variable and needs clarification. Opioids had a stronger association with poor outcomes.
