My first year in the nephrology fellowship had just ended. I was taking care of peritoneal dialysis outpatients. I also had Mrs. Tahta,∗ a lovely peritoneal dialysis (PD) nurse, with me. She had been working with PD patients since the program was established in our university 20 years ago.
