A Global Approach to Increasing Physical Activity and Exercise in Kidney Care: The International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism Global Renal Exercise Group

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) adversely impacts levels of physical activity and quality of life (QOL).1 Low levels of physical activity are strongly associated with mortality and poor clinical outcomes across the spectrum of CKD, especially in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD).2 These poor outcomes have been reported consistently in the literature and remain a challenge for patients, care partners, and health professionals.3 Exercise interventions have been successful in improving CKD patients' health and QOL over a short time frame; however, this has not translated to the adoption of exercise.
