Health Outcomes and Health Care Utilization Among Obstetric Deliveries With Concurrent CKD in the United States
The increasing contribution of pre-existing chronic medical conditions to maternal morbidity and mortality has recently garnered national attention,1,2 but there are limited data on the epidemiology of CKD, including ESKD, in reproductive-aged women. We sought to estimate the prevalence of CKD among delivering women in the United States, describing their health outcomes, patterns of health care utilization, and delivery-related costs. This study fills crucial knowledge gaps regarding the impact of CKD among women giving birth in the United States.
