Hypertension is one of the leading causes of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in adults worldwide and increases the rate of progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both children and adults.1,2 Many studies have supported the concept that adult hypertension leads to ESRD. However, it is unknown whether hypertension in childhood or adolescence leads to adult ESRD.
