Starbucks Espresso Drinks: More Than the Average Cup of Joe

Joe. Java. Cuppa. Brew. There are as many different slang terms for coffee in America as there are ways to order it. Today's coffee orders from chain coffee shops, such as Starbucks, can be seven words long, such as a Grande Salted Cream Cold Foam Cold Brew, a far cry from the “black” or “with cream and sugar” of yesteryear. Many of the ingredients added to make such coffee drink names so long may not be appropriate for dialysis patients. This article will examine the nutrient composition and appropriateness of espresso-based drinks from Starbucks for renal patients.
