Improvement in Hyperphosphatemia Using Phosphate Education and Planning Talks
Hyperphosphatemia is a common complication in patients with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis. The mainstay of phosphate management involves a low-phosphate diet and use of phosphate binders, yet these are often insufficient. This study was the first to use behavioral change techniques to encourage the use of phosphate binders and dietary modifications through a series of Phosphate Education and Planning (PEP) talks.
