Core Assessment of Predonation Kidney Function: Clarification of the 2017 KDIGO Living Donor Guideline
As members of the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) work group that developed the 2017 guideline for living donor evaluation and care, we applaud the inclusion of living donor evaluation as a topic within the 2018 AJKD Core Curriculum.1 Advancing opportunities for living donation requires ongoing efforts to strengthen the rigor, safety, and defensibility of donor evaluation and selection.2 We thank Sawinski and Locke1 for citing the KDIGO conceptual framework for donor acceptance, grounded on estimation of long-term health risk from simultaneous consideration of a profile of demographic and health characteristics, rather than single factors in isolation.
