Long-term Outcomes of Survivors of Acute Kidney Injury Stage 3
Dr Sawhney and colleagues1 performed secondary analyses of large-cohort outcome data that clearly demonstrate that 10-year mortality is excessively high (79.3%) in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) stage 3 with previously normal kidney function. However, long-term renal replacement therapy is rare in this population.1 These data are consistent with previous work, including our 10-year prospective cohort study.2
