Developers of clinical practice guidelines need to be efficient and comprehensive when searching for studies in bibliographic databases. To improve the retrieval of kidney information from such databases, our group recently empirically derived and validated different search strategies, which we term “filters,” that were either broad (optimized for sensitivity) or narrow in scope (optimized for specificity) for articles relevant to dialysis,1 glomerular disease,2 AKI,3 kidney transplantation,4 and CKD.
