In Reply to “Health-Related Quality of Life After Living Kidney Donation: Qualitative Studies Can Provide an Important Perspective”

We thank Cazauvieilh et al. (1) for their thoughtful response and agree that qualitative research adds important insights into donor experiences. Our systematic review quantified health-related quality of life (HRQoL) trajectories after donation and compared donors with reference populations using validated patient-reported outcome measures (2). Standardization enabled synthesis of data across 73 studies involving 14,474 donors, providing comparable estimates. However, standardized questionnaires constrain respondents to predefined domains and may not capture unexpected, context-dependent, or contradictory experiences.
