Letter to the Editor: Development and Validation of a Prediction Model for Estimating 24-Hour Urinary Sodium Excretion Using Spot Urine Samples in Adult Patients
We read with considerable interest the study by Menacho-Román et al.,1 who developed and externally validated a spot urine–based model (NaRYC) for estimating 24-hour urinary sodium excretion in adult outpatients. Their work provides an important addition to existing prediction equations by demonstrating improved discrimination and calibration across two cohorts. While this model represents a valuable methodological advance, several clinical considerations warrant further discussion to support its broader application in routine practice.
