Letter to the Editor Regarding “Structured Appetite Assessment in Children With Chronic Kidney Disease”

We recently read with great interest the study by Harmer et al.1 titled, “Structured Appetite Assessment in Children with Chronic Kidney Disease.” This work pioneers the development and validation of the ModSNAQ tool for appetite assessment in pediatric chronic kidney disease (CKD), filling a critical clinical gap—existing guidelines recommend appetite evaluation but lack validated structured tools—and uncovers novel findings, including a higher prevalence of poor appetite than previously reported and its decoupling from renal impairment severity.
