Letter to the Editor: Assessment of Nutritional Intake in Patients With Kidney Failure Treated by Hemodialysis on Dialysis and Nondialysis Days

We read with interest the study by Shaaker et al.,1 which cross-sectionally analyzed 51 hemodialysis (HD) patients to evaluate the differences in dietary intake between dialysis days (DDs) and nondialysis days (NDDs). The study revealed that only 25% of patients achieved the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative–recommended targets for protein and energy intake, and there were no significant differences in daily energy intake (DEI) and daily protein intake (DPI) between DDs and NDDs.
