Letter to the Editor: “The Acute Effect of Dark Chocolate on Blood Pressure and Renal Hemodynamics as Assessed With Doppler Ultrasound in Healthy Volunteers”
The recent study by Gargiulo et al.,1 titled “The Acute Effect of Dark Chocolate on Blood Pressure and Renal Hemodynamics as Assessed With Doppler Ultrasound in Healthy Volunteers,” is a noteworthy exploration of cocoa's immediate physiological effects on renal perfusion and systemic hemodynamics. The use of a randomized, placebo-controlled, single-blinded crossover design, coupled with Doppler ultrasound and handgrip testing, adds methodological rigor. However, several limitations temper the broader interpretation and translational relevance of the findings.
