Telemedicine in Dialysis: Established Gains Yet Enduring Gaps to Enhance the Quality of Care
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic accelerated the adoption of telemedicine across health systems in the United States, and dialysis care has been no exception.1 In the early stages of the pandemic, telemedicine became a useful tool to facilitate continuity of and access to care during periods of physical distancing. Since then, policymakers, payers, and clinicians have debated the specific role telemedicine should play in dialysis facilities in the long term.
