Increasing home dialysis has been a long-standing goal of the United States (US). In 2019 executive orders created the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Treatment Choices (ETC) model which implemented financial incentives to increase home dialysis, and in 2024 the Improving Access to Home Dialysis Act was introduced in the US House of Representatives.1,2, Home dialysis-home hemodialysis (HHD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD)-is desirable because it can improve quality of life; however, there are no definitive results regarding patient survival.
