Intradialytic exercise (IDE) has demonstrated numerous health benefits; however, limited research is available on the effects of this intervention when paired with virtual reality (VR) technology. The purpose of this review article is to assess whether virtual reality (VR) intradialytic exercise (IDE) improves functional status and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for adults with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis and if it is a safe treatment option. A thorough search of PubMed, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library revealed four unique studies, one with two publications reporting on different outcomes.
