We thank Dr. Robert and colleagues for their letter,1 which highlights their recent study, published while our manuscript was under review.2 They report that the prevalence of multiple kidney cysts in an Alport syndrome cohort was similar to controls. While of interest, interpretation is complicated by the lower kidney function in the “undetermined kidney disease” control group, which may have increased cyst prevalence. These findings should also be viewed in the context of prior literature, as referenced in our manuscript.
