So often I look upon physicians as healers and comforters. I see the white coats roaming hospital halls and feel the tireless empathy buzzing about. But as I have come to realize, after taking off their white coats physicians are also patients. My dear friend in residency—with whose permission I share her story—courageously thrives in this space as she cares for others while managing her own chronic condition.
