Living Kidney Donors' Residential Neighborhoods: Driver or Barrier of Post-Donation Follow-Up?

Live donor kidney transplantation (KT) is the preferred treatment for patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), offering better post-KT outcomes.1 Transplant centers are responsible for living kidney donor (LKDs) follow-up and play a critical role in maintaining donor health.2 During evaluation, centers emphasize the importance of continued monitoring after donation. Despite the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)/United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) revision of post-donation follow-up compliance thresholds (2/2013),2 completion rates among LKDs remained low (68%, 2013-2015).
