A 34-year-old African American man with past medical history of type 1 diabetes without retinopathy, hypertension, HIV treated with antiretroviral therapy (Biktarvy), and chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 2 presented to nephrology clinic for evaluation of proteinuria (24-hour urine collection of 9.7g, Cr 1.5mg/dL).
