Author's Reply: “Associations Between Dietary Potassium Intake From Different Food Sources and Hyperkalemia in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease”
We sincerely appreciate the insightful comments from Dr. Picard and Dr. St-Jules on our article.1 As they pointed out,2 the accuracy of food group and potassium intakes based on a brief-type self-administered diet history questionnaire (BDHQ) may not be optimal due to weak to moderate Spearman correlation coefficients between BDHQ and diet records.3,4 While Dr. Picard and Dr. St-Jules highlighted statistically significant differences in median intakes of potatoes between those estimated from diet records and BDHQ in one of the validation studies on 184 adults aged 32-76 years,3 the result was for men, but not for women.
