The incidence of suicide in the US has increased significantly over the past 20 years, with an alarming rise among youth.1 Two decades ago, a study showed that patients treated with dialysis in the US had a 1.84-fold higher incidence of suicide compared to the general population.2 The objective of this study was to describe rates of suicide and identify its risk factors in a contemporary cohort of patients receiving dialysis.
