Surveying the Medical Education Landscape: Perspectives on Nephrology Education Among Internal Medicine Residents
To date, only a few nephrology needs assessments have been conducted among medical trainees, and none have assessed residents’ preferred methods of learning nephrology.1,2 We conducted a needs assessment among internal medicine residents to identify (1) gaps in nephrology exposure and knowledge from the learner perspective and (2) trainees’ preferred educational resources. While providing exposure and content may be important for attracting trainees to the field, it is also likely important for all internal medicine residents regardless of their subspecialty intentions.
