In Reply to “The Use of Ultrasound in Peritoneal Dialysis Setting”

We read with interest Curto et al’s letter1 regarding the use of ultrasound in peritoneal dialysis (PD). The authors make a valid suggestion that use of ultrasound in PD therapy should also be included in Core Curricula. We agree with the authors, as sonography is immensely helpful in evaluation of the abdominal wall, including the location of epigastric arteries, thickness of the rectus muscle, and depth of fat prior to placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters, and can also aid in diagnosis of tunnel infections, pericatheter leaks, and exit site infections post procedure.
