In Reply to “Addressing Methodological and Interpretive Concerns in a Systematic Review on Dialysis Experiences of Indigenous Patients in British Colonized Countries”
We thank Wei et al (1) for their commentary on our article. Firstly, the assessment of the quality of the conduct of qualitative studies is contentious and there is no universally accepted framework for assessing the quality of the conduct of studies (2). Also, there is no empiric basis to ascertain if specific processes, such as the use of software to support coding and analysis, results in better “quality” data. Thus, we assessed the comprehensiveness of the reporting of the included qualitative studies using COREQ (3), a tool widely accepted and used in previous systematic reviews and synthesis of qualitative studies across a wide range of fields (4, 5).
