Disparities in Gender Representation Among First and Senior Authors in High-Impact Nephrology RCTs, 2000-2022

Growing awareness of diversity and inclusivity in the scientific community has exposed grave gender disparities in the authorship of research articles.1 Gender disparities in nephrology have been well documented, with women under-represented in leadership positions, grants, and research authorship.1,2 Such gender disparities can negatively affect innovation, creativity, collaborative efficiency, demographic-specific health issues, and participant diversity in randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
