Does Malnutrition Really Not Disturb the Physical Function Improvement Following Intradialytic Exercise in Hemodialysis Patients?
We read with interest the study of Takahashi et al.1 that retrospectively analyzed data from a multicenter cohort database enrolling hemodialysis patients who started intradialytic resistance exercise between April 2012 and July 2020. The intradialytic resistance exercise was undertaken for 15 minutes during each hemodialysis session thrice a week for 12 months. After a propensity score matching, the study categorized patients into two groups (n = 154 in each group) per the nutritional status to evaluate malnutrition's influence on physical function improvement following exercise.
