Frailty and impairment of physical functioning are common and troubling problems for many patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Loss of mobility and functional independence negatively impacts quality of life and substantially increases the risk of hospitalization and death.1 When evaluating a frail patient, especially one with functional disability, clinicians are often acutely aware of the associated poor prognosis; yet beyond prognostication, therapeutic interventions are frustratingly few.
