Dying of Cancer With Kidney Disease
Cancer is a diagnosis that is feared by most patients with kidney failure and rated by patients and physicians as an important end point for clinical trials in transplantation.1 Much is now known about the increased risk of cancer in transplant recipients, patients on dialysis, and, to a lesser extent, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).2 However, less is known about relative mortality from cancer in these groups compared to mortality in the general population.
