Celebrating 4 Decades of AJKD
In the inaugural issue of AJKD in July 1981, Stuart Kleit, the immediate past-president of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), wrote that the journal’s launch represented “a new era of Foundation activities.”1 Explaining the Foundation’s view of research “as the ultimate hope for the future,” Dr Kleit expressed the organization’s vision that providing a forum for peer-reviewed research and educational content would stimulate research advances and help practitioners apply new knowledge to patient care.
