Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), stage 1-5D and post-transplant, are at high risk for malnutrition, characterized by protein energy wasting and micronutrient deficiencies. When malnutrition is present in patients with CKD, the risk of morbidity and mortality is increased significantly while the patient's quality of life decreases.1,2
