The National Kidney Foundation’s Efforts to Improve and Increase Patient-Centered CKD Research

Patient-centered care requires a genuine partnership between patients, care partners, and health care professionals. Patient-centeredness as a value and a practice has expanded into research, with patients, care partners, and other stakeholders uniting with investigators to conduct patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR). PCOR requires incorporation of input from patients, care partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that each project is relevant to patients’ needs and that the results are disseminated widely and are actionable in health care settings.
